Pegboard is a small, invite-only site for neighbors to lend each other tools, run by a neighbor in Shelburne, Vermont. Using it means agreeing to what’s on this page.
Lending is between neighbors
- Pegboard introduces neighbors. It doesn’t own, inspect, insure or deliver any tool.
- The owner decides who borrows their tool, and for how long. Either of you can say no, or cancel.
- Borrowers are responsible for the tools they borrow, including damage, loss and safe use. Owners are responsible for lending tools in safe working order, and for saying what a borrower needs to know.
- Some tools ask you to accept a safety waiver before the request is sent, and again at pickup.
- Everything on Pegboard is a free loan. There’s no renting, no deposits and no payments.
Your account
- You need an invitation and a US mobile number to join.
- Use your real name as neighbors would know it, and keep your home pin accurate.
- Don’t list anything you can’t lend safely or legally.
- We can remove a tool, or an account, that puts neighbors at risk.
Text messages
Program: Pegboard loan notifications. If you choose text messages on your profile, we text you only about your own loans: when a neighbor asks to borrow your tool, when a request of yours is answered, and when a tool is due back.
- Message frequency varies with your own lending and borrowing. Most members get a few messages a month.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to cancel at any time. We stop texting you, and switch you to email if you’ve given us an address.
- Reply HELP for help, or write to us through ourpegboard.com/feedback. The text-message program is set out at ourpegboard.com/text-messages.
- You can change or switch off notifications at any time on your profile page.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Privacy
What we keep, and who sees it, is on What Pegboard keeps. We do not sell or share your text-message opt-in or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
The plain version
Pegboard is a neighborhood project, not a company with a legal department. It comes with no guarantees, and we’re not liable for what happens between neighbors or to a borrowed tool. Be careful with other people’s things, and be honest when something goes wrong.
